*cecilia marquez.
artist and blogger of sorts, I'm a curious trekker and scribbler.
I was born into a Catholic family in 1971 and come from Buenos aires, argentina.
I settled with my husband and children in New Zealand and have a diverse background having also lived in Brazil, england and Chile. I grew up during the military dictatorships common in Latin America during the 1970s and into the early 1980s. Our family, diplomat father, was expelled from england at the start of the malvinas/falklands War. After eight years of teaching experience, my passion to study was rekindled. I graduated with a fine arts degree in auckland 2008.
My work symbolically relates to me as a layperson and I focus on the relationship between homage and hobby. The individual sculptures, illustrations and manipulated images are presented as devotional offerings, as if I were a fan creating my own hall of fame. I often work with found objects and images readily altering them with hand-made additions.
I am interested in football paraphernalia, medieval art, remote beaches, 1950s cinema, antique toys and asados. Favourite books, artists and movies include Love in the Time of Cholera, Ellen Gallagher, Paul Pfeiffer and Crosby & Sinatra's High Society.
I can also be found collecting anecdotes and curios to hall of fame site more
often than not of footballer
*diego maradona.
